Where Every Child Is Loved, Every Mind Is Inspired

Nursery Rhyme Academy is a learning center in East Orange run by Ms. Chy and other teachers.

How we see children

At Nursery Rhyme Academy, learning and play are not separate things. Children learn through play, and teachers plan the day so hands-on work comes first. A child who is stacking blocks or pouring water is exploring an idea, not just passing time. Teachers follow that curiosity and add to it. Choosing childcare is a big decision, and the best way to know a place is to see it.

Rooms are set up so children can reach what they need and choose what to do next. Teachers work in small groups and sit at eye level to talk with a child about what they are building, drawing, or trying. Materials are open-ended, so a child can sort, stack, pour, and build. When a child is stuck, a teacher asks a question instead of giving the answer.

What you notice in practice

Teachers work at eye level and follow the child's lead. When a child is interested in something, that interest becomes the lesson. Teachers ask questions and let children try again instead of stepping in right away. Small groups let teachers notice what each child is working on today.

Rooms are arranged in areas for building, books, art, and quiet rest, so children can move between them. The day is paced with active play, group time, meals, and rest, with room for children who need more time. Transitions are kept calm and predictable. Come tour the classrooms and see the rooms set up.

How we work with families

At pickup, parents hear about what their child did that day, not just a summary of the schedule. Teachers share small moments: a first turn taken, a tower that finally stood, a new word used. If you have a question, you can ask a teacher at drop-off or pickup, and staff will follow up. Parents often say the staff is caring and the atmosphere is warm.

New children settle in at their own pace, and families are part of that. For new enrollments, you start with just your first week's tuition, and no security deposit is required. CCAP is accepted. Come meet the teachers and tour the classrooms to see how the first weeks work. Spaces are limited, so ask about openings.
